I have heard of several good luck traditions like-swedish families eat pickled herring and families that live in the southern u.s. eat black eyed peas and hamhocks, our family does Black eyed peas and ham with filet mignon, shrimp and crab legs. I am a bit swedish but just can't bring myself to eat the pickled herring. The Italian side rules!!!
